Plain Game Modes: Daily, Practice & Discovery

Choose a daily challenge, unlimited practice, an untimed flight or the same seven questions as a friend.

Plain Game gives you one shared daily challenge and several ways to keep playing. All modes are free and require no account. Open the game to choose a flight; this guide explains which option fits your next round.

Start with the daily flight

Choose Play on the home screen. A flight has seven rounds: five ask you to name something near a target value, and two ask you to estimate a number. Each timed round allows 30 seconds. You can read the reveal before moving on, so a whole visit can last longer than the combined three-and-a-half-minute answering time.

The daily flight changes at midnight in America/New_York, including daylight-saving changes. Players using the same game-data version receive the same route for that date. It is a new challenge each day, not a new set every time you reload.

Finish on consecutive days to build your local daily streak. Keep using the same browser if you want to keep that record.

Keep going with practice

Choose Free flight on the home screen to open the practice options. Leave Surprise me selected for a mixed route, or choose a collection. You can start more practice flights after finishing; you do not have to wait for tomorrow's daily challenge.

A focused route uses five different entries from your chosen collection for the name-the-answer rounds. The other two rounds remain general numerical estimates. Choosing mountains, for example, does not make every question a mountain question.

Take your time in Discovery

Choose the untimed Discovery pace in the practice options. There is no countdown or altitude loss from waiting. This is useful when you want to read a hint, think through a comparison or learn from the reveal without rushing.

Compare like with like: an untimed flight is a different experience from a timed daily flight. A higher altitude here does not establish that you beat someone's timed performance.

Revisit a past flight

Open Past flights to explore the dates offered for the last two weeks. These are practice flights. They do not add XP, change your daily streak or give you a second score for today's challenge.

This is a rolling selection of generated routes, not a permanent archive of every historical puzzle. Routes depend on the game's data version.

Challenge a friend

Share a flight link or challenge code from your results. Your friend can open the link, or use the game's join option to paste the code, to receive the same route and golden round.

You play separately. This is not a live multiplayer room, and the shared rival score is self-reported rather than server-verified. Use it for friendly comparisons.
