Plain Game FAQ

Is Plain Game free, and do I need an account?

Playing is free. Open Plain Game in your browser and choose Play; you do not need to register or download an app. Game progress is saved in that browser. A website account does not synchronize your flights across devices.

Is this the original Plain website?

No. Plain Game at plaingame.fun is an independent estimation game. It is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by playplain.app. If you want the original service, visit playplain.app. Read About Plain Game for this edition's focus.

What do I type?

Five rounds ask for the name of something in a category; two ask for a numerical estimate. Use the full name or select an offered suggestion for name rounds. Numerical inputs can use forms such as 2500, 2.5k or 1.2 million. Check the unit and category before answering. The play guide explains the flow.

Why is my answer not accepted?

The name may not be in the current collection, may be ambiguous or may not match closely enough. Choose a full name from the suggestions. An unknown answer does not use your turn, but a timed round keeps counting down. The first accepted answer locks in.

A real-world object can exist without being in the game's answer list. The list is finite; it is not a live search of every possible answer.

When does the daily challenge reset?

At midnight in New York, using America/New_York. This is 04:00 UTC during New York daylight-saving time and 05:00 UTC during standard time. The home screen uses the game's reset clock. Players on the same data version receive the same daily questions.

Can I play more than once a day?

Yes. After your daily flight, start another practice flight. You can choose a collection or the untimed Discovery pace. These options do not create another official daily result. See game modes.

Can I replay old challenges?

Past flights offers recent dates from the last two weeks as practice. These flights do not increase XP, change your streak or add a second daily score. It is not a permanent archive.

Can I play without a timer?

Yes. Select Discovery in the practice options. You can take your time, and the plane does not descend while you think. Daily flights remain timed.

Where is my progress saved?

Flights, preferences and progress are stored locally in your browser. Using another browser or device does not automatically transfer them. Clearing site data can erase them. Use the game's Settings export and import controls if you want to keep a backup or transfer your stored data yourself.

If browser storage is unavailable, the game can use temporary storage. Do not rely on temporary progress surviving a closed or refreshed page.

Can I challenge a friend?

Yes. Share your flight link or code so they can play the same route. You play at separate times, and the rival score is self-reported. There is no live multiplayer session or verified global leaderboard.

Why are my points and altitude different?

Accuracy earns points; each point adds ten metres. Timed rounds also lose altitude after the first three seconds. A hidden golden round doubles its points. Read the scoring examples for the complete calculation.

Are the facts live or independently verified?

The bank uses frozen reference values. Measurement scope, rounding and source dates can differ, and the full bank has not received an exhaustive independent factual audit. The sources page explains the limits and how to describe a suspected error.

Can I play on my phone or in another language?

You can play in a JavaScript-enabled mobile browser using the game's touch controls. The interactive game is currently English. Translated website text does not mean the questions or game controls are translated. Do not assume offline play or a native app is included.

What should I do after today's flight?

Try a collection, switch to Discovery or share the same flight with a friend. Bookmark plaingame.fun and return after the next New York midnight for a new daily route. Use the same browser to preserve your local progress.
